The Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI), through the National Animal Feed Development Program (NAFDP), successfully conducted the NAFDP Summit: Luzon Leg on July 1-2, 2026, bringing together government agencies, academe, researchers, feed industry stakeholders, and livestock producers to strengthen the country’s animal feed sector. During the summit, BAI Officer-in-Charge Dr. Christian P. Daquigan, through Dr. Marivic M. De Vera, reaffirmed the Bureau’s commitment to develop a national feed roadmap, enhance regulatory frameworks, and promote collaboration toward a resilient and sustainable feed industry that supports livestock development and national food security. Technical presentations highlighted current challenges and opportunities in feed development, including reducing dependence on imported feed ingredients, promoting locally available feed resources, advancing research and innovation, and developing the proposed National Forage Development and Enterprise Roadmap. Participants also identified priority programs and projects that will guide the future implementation of the NAFDP. The summit concluded with a commitment among stakeholders to strengthen collaboration and accelerate initiatives that will improve feed security, enhance livestock productivity, and contribute to a more resilient Philippine agriculture sector.
